It is part of the patient care process, and is based on the study of different biological samples by means of laboratory analysis. On the other hand, it provides an objective result, which can be quantitative (a number) or qualitative (positive or negative).
Pathological anatomy is the medical specialty that deals with the study of cellular lesions, tissues, organs, their structural and functional consequences and therefore the repercussions on the organism. It does this through the study of samples (biopsies and surgical specimens) and cellular samples (cytology).
