What is Hyperbaric medicine?

Hyperbaric medicine, also known as hyperbaric oxygen therapy, is based on the medical use of 100% pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber, called Hyperbaric Chamber, at pressures above 1.5 Atmospheres Absolute.

Benefits of Hyperbaric Medicine

The amount of oxygen transported to the cells during a hyperbaric oxygen therapy session is up to 23 times greater than at ambient pressure.

The treatment facilitates the delivery of oxygen to areas with hypoxia (lack of oxygen), revitalizes and regenerates the cells producing beneficial effects for the body.

The extra oxygen saturation causes regeneration and creation of new blood vessels, bone regeneration and an antimicrobial effect, eliminating infection-causing microbes.

Uses of hyperbaric medicine

Hyperbaric chamber therapy is indicated for many different pathologies:

  • Cranioencephalic traumas.

  • Reimplantation of amputated limbs.

  • Vasculitis.

  • Regeneration of organic tissue in conditions of asphyxia or drowning.

  • In combination with chemotherapy it can improve the treatment of some tumors.

  • Bacterial infections.

  • Wounds of difficult healing.

  • Injuries caused by diabetes.

  • Occlusions in ocular blood vessels.

  • Sudden deafness.

  • Ischemic ulcers.

  • Osteomyelitis.

  • Pneumatosis.

  • Neuroblastomas.

  • Reduces inflammation in the environment of an injury.

  • Promotes neovascularization.

  • Gas gangrene.

  • Curative treatment of lesions derived from oncological application of radiotherapy.

  • Diabetic foot.

  • Fibromyalgia.
