Septin test
Service description
Affidea has the Septina 9 test to detect Colorectal Cancer, it is aimed at people over 50 years old and/or with a family history.
The genetic test for colon cancer prevention is the first specific test that can be performed with a simple blood sample for colorectal cancer screening.
Currently, fecal occult blood (non-specific test) and colonoscopy (invasive test) techniques are used. The search for a marker in blood provides a more suitable preventive screening method for patients' expectations.
The DNA methylation status of the Septin 9 gene has been established as a specific (90%) and sensitive (75%) tumor marker for colorectal cancer detection.
