Manchón Group partners with Affidea European Centers network
Grupo Manchón, a network of healthcare centers specializing in advanced diagnostic imaging services in Catalonia, has today joined the Affidea Group, Europe's largest provider of diagnostic imaging, outpatient care and cancer treatment services.
Grupo Manchón has a long history of more than 85 years of experience in radiology in Spain. The Manchón legacy dates back to 1934 when Barcelona's pioneering radiologist, Dr. Fernando Manchón Azcona, opened the first radiology practice in the city. The tradition continued through the following generations, with the opening in 1982 of the first Dr. Manchón diagnostic center. With the aim of continuing to offer excellence in radiology, in the 1990s the company was acquired by the third generation, represented by Dr. Pilar Manchón and Antonio Manchón.
Grupo Manchón currently has nine diagnostic imaging centers: three in Barcelona, one in Sant Cugat and five other satellite centers in the province of Barcelona. The company offers a wide range of advanced imaging tests, namely magnetic resonance and mammography with tomosynthesis, Scanner, bone densitometry and conventional radiology. It also has a team of 20 subspecialists in different areas of diagnostic imaging and performs more than 125,000 studies annually.
Both Dr. Pilar Manchón and Mr. Antonio Manchón will continue to lead the company, offering Affidea their knowledge of the market while benefiting from the resources and scientific knowledge of the Affidea network of centers currently present in 16 countries throughout Europe.
As a result of this association, the new network will have a total of 44 centers in Spain, serving more than 550,000 patients a year, thanks to a team of 550 professionals, 100 of whom are part of the Manchón Group.
