  • With this acquisition, Affidea becomes one of the leading primary healthcare providers in the Valencia region, serving more than 600,000 patients.

Madrid, December 5, 2023. Affidea Group, a leading European provider of advanced diagnostics, outpatient services and Centers of Excellence, today announced the acquisition of Clínica Atenea, a prestigious provider of outpatient and diagnostic services serving the Valencia region.

Founded 20 years ago, Clínica Atenea has a network of four clinics strategically located in the metropolitan area of Valencia, including Aldaia, Torrent, L'Eliana and Alfafar. The clinics are known for their commitment to excellence in patient care, offering a wide range of services, including outpatient consultations in more than 25 clinical specialties, advanced diagnostics such as MRIs, mammograms, ultrasounds, X-rays, DXA and dental CT scans, as well as laboratory services, primarily targeting the private healthcare sector.

With this acquisition, Affidea reinforces its position as a leading provider of primary healthcare in the Valencian Community, serving an impressive annual base of more than 600,000 patients.

This investment aligns with Affidea's overall ambitions to expand its out-of-hospital service offering throughout Spain and enhance its network with the addition of high quality polyclinics.

Theo Kravvas, CEO of Affidea Spain, said, "Clínica Atenea has a high reputation for high quality medical services and is an ideal complement to our expansion in the region, where we are already present with the Affidea Clínica Tecma center. Our goal is to become the provider of choice for outpatient services in Spain, and with the addition of Clínica Atenea we are taking another significant step towards our aspiration. We share the same values, putting the patient at the center of everything we do. We will continue to support the continued growth of Clínica Atenea in the future, enriching the level of services provided to our patients and sharing best practices among our centers throughout Spain. I warmly welcome the team at Clínica Atenea to our network and look forward to an ambitious journey together."

Eduardo Martinez, director of Clínica Atenea, said, "We are excited to embark on this new chapter as a member of the Affidea family. This milestone presents a tremendous opportunity for Clínica Atenea to continue its mission to provide exceptional healthcare services and expand our presence. With Affidea's extensive experience and resources, we are confident that we can further elevate the quality of care we provide to our patients, while exploring new avenues for growth and innovation. We share a common commitment to excellence, which makes this transition a natural fit for us. We look forward to a bright future as part of this renowned European healthcare network."

With this acquisition, Affidea will reach 43 centers in Spain, serving a total of more than 1,000,000 patients each year and collaborating with 1,450 healthcare professionals, of which more than 300 come from Clínica Atenea. The company is continually expanding its geographic presence, with strengthened capacity in outpatient services, which will enable Affidea to be one of the preferred healthcare providers for patients, companies and private health insurers.

The transaction was supported by RSM for legal and human resources services, Vasalto for employment advisory services and KPMG for tax and financial advisory services.
