Affidea achieves European accreditation in nuclear medicine for all its centers in Spain

  • The European Union of Medical Specialties (UEMS) and the European Board of Nuclear Medicine (EBNM) grant accreditation to Affidea Hospital Fuensanta.

Affidea Hospital Fuensanta (Madrid) has been accredited by the European Union of Medical Specialties (UEMS), an entity that represents medical specialties within the European Union (EU), and the European Board of Nuclear Medicine (EBNM), created to ensure the highest possible quality standards in the field of nuclear medicine and accredit nuclear medicine and PET/CT centers in order to improve patient care by standardizing the quality of nuclear medicine facilities throughout Europe. Thus, all the Nuclear Medicine & PET/CT centers of Affidea Spain, the largest European provider of diagnostic imaging, outpatient and oncology care services, are now accredited by this entity. In addition, Affidea PET Hospital La Milagrosa (Madrid) received the QIBA Quantitative Imaging Biomarkers Alliance (QIBA) Declaration of Conformity from the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).

Affidea Hospital Fuensanta has a Diagnostic Imaging service with more than 30 years of experience equipped with modern technology, recognized professionals and personalized attention. The UEMS/EBNM accreditation guarantees the correct daily practice, the continuous offer of consistent services, the permanent uniformity and confidence in the results, the availability of technical and human capacities and the international recognition within the accredited department. It is a way to let society and institutions know that the work is being done in an efficient and orderly manner, in a responsible and competitive way, providing confidence and security to the services provided.

Regarding Affidea PET Hospital La Milagrosa, it has received the QIBA Statement, an RSNA initiative to advance quantitative imaging and the use of imaging biomarkers in trials and clinical practice by engaging researchers, healthcare professionals, and industry. In addition, QIBA profiles standardize methods to create biomarkers that meet stated, accurate and reproducible performance. Affidea PET Hospital La Milagrosa also has EARL (ResEARch for Life) Accreditation, issued by the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) to promote multicenter nuclear medicine and research.

Over the past year, Affidea has undertaken the renovation of several MRI, CT, digital mammography, radiology, densitometry and PET-CT equipment for nuclear medicine.
