Warning signs that your child may need glasses

11/09/2025

The sense of sight is essential for the academic and social development of a healthy child. Therefore, it is essential to take care of it from early childhood, paying attention to any signs that may indicate a possible visual impairment.

Parents who detect any of the following signs in their children on a daily basis should consider visiting an ophthalmologist, as they may need corrective glasses.

Reading very close to the book, squinting or frowning when focusing from a distance, tilting the head, covering one eye when performing visual activities, or blinking excessively would justify a thorough eye exam.

Other signs of suspected eye disease could include poor school performance, difficulty learning to read or write, and headaches when studying.

Although one in five children wears glasses, it is estimated that there are still a large number of children who need them but do not wear them due to lack of knowledge.
