Fujifilm and Affidea join forces again to drive smart innovation in the fight against cancer
Affidea, the largest European provider of diagnostic imaging services to which Grup Manchón's clinics belong, continues to incorporate new-generation technology, such as that which has just been installed at its recently opened clinic in Hospitalet de Llobregat.
According to data from the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM), more than 276,000 new cases of cancer were diagnosed in Spain in 2021, and the figures are increasing year after year. It is estimated that 2 out of every 3 women and 1 out of every 2 men will suffer from this disease in their lifetime.
For the early detection and management of cancer, it is crucial to have equipment and professionals specialized in digital imaging diagnosis, which in recent years has evolved to the point of introducing artificial intelligence parameters, useful for locating and monitoring tumors.
Barcelona, January 31, 2022. February 4 marks World Cancer Day, a date that serves to give visibility to a disease that is increasingly present in our lives, as the number of diagnoses increases every year. According to data from the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM), last year more than 276,000 new cases were detected in Spain alone, and the trend is growing, driven by the gradual aging of the population and the pursuit of unhealthy habits, such as a sedentary lifestyle, tobacco and alcohol consumption or a poor diet far removed from the Mediterranean diet.
"It is an increasingly frequent disease; it is estimated that two out of every three women and one out of every two men will suffer from cancer during their lifetime. And in this context, early diagnosis is the best tool to be able to manage this disease with less aggressive treatments and with more chances of cure," says Dr. Pilar Manchón Gabás, Regional Medical Director of Affidea Spain.
